It's more than a Conference
It's a chance to savor our Nation's history and the finest in our culinary arts!

WELCOME fellow Rotarians to the 2009/2010 District Conference of our Rotary District 7230.

This year, Cheryl and I invite you to travel north just over our District border to Hyde Park, NY in the beautiful Hudson Valley. We'll be staying at the Grand Hotel in Poughkeepsie, amidst the historic Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area along the Hudson.

We have an exciting and memorable weekend in store for you. Our first fellowship get-together will be on Friday, April 23. A luncheon is planned from Noon to 1:30 to meet and greet both our outbound and the inbound GSE Team, which have just arrived together from TASMANIA, Australia. . Our first Rotary Session will be at 2:00 with the nationally-known MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER, Tom Champoux, you won't want to miss. On Friday evening we will gather at the CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA for a tour and a world-class dinner at the Catherine de Medici Restaurant. The CIA, known as the "World's Premier Culinary College," has educated nearly all of the world's Master Chefs.

Saturday morning, after a sumptuous buffet breakfast, we will hold our Annual Meeting and attend our CLUB BUILDER WORKSHOPS, offering a huge smorgasbord of Rotary subjects, from "How to Run an Effective Meeting" to "How to Win Rotary Foundation Grants" for your Club.

Saturday afternoon you are FREE TO EXPLORE the many historic sites in the area. These include a formal tour of Franklin D. Roosevelt's home at 2:00 PM, FDR's library and museum, Eleanor Roosevelt's home, and the homes of Commodore Vanderbilt and Samuel F. B. Morse, the inventor of the telegraph.

The Governor's Ball on Saturday evening will feature a PARADE OF THE PRESIDENTS and entertainment by the famous BOBBY DARLING SHOW, not to mention an inspirational address by RIP John Kenny's Representative, PDG Mike Thacker from Macon, NC.

Sunday we'll hold our Memorial Breakfast, an annual tradition in our District, and, to cap off the wonderful weekend, we'll experience a TRAVELOGUE OF TASMANIA by the two GSE Teams.

Cheryl and I want to share this exciting weekend in the Hudson Valley with you and your families and we look forward with pleasure to your company.
